Hi, I'm still alive and kicking...
Hi my wonderful OFF family!
got up early and have been catching up on my reading here...
Work has been a bear lately, I've been working hard on helping
with my son's wedding coming in June, and trying hard to focus on my eating.
I had 2 instances that I didn't chew well enough and suffered for hours...good learning experience. Some days I have trouble getting in all my fluids and proteins. Fluids are not as desired on days that are 35 below zero. I do drink hot teas but can only drink so much. My co-worker just got back from a vacation in Arizona and brought me 2 "orange" lemons...they are sweeter than lemons and I cut one in half and squeeze into my water jug.
(hey, I'm from the north and we don't see lemons like that here).
I haven't been real good about keeping foods handy...I find that if I cook on the weekends, then freeze servings, I eat much better. I know what I need to do and just need to do it.
My exercise is starting slow..I can find millions of excuses not to.
Good news tho...I am 4# from Onederland! I've lost 36# since Dec.10th/ 72# since last April.
I ordered my dress for my son's wedding...it was hard figuring what size to order since I'm losing every month but I cannot bank on the same wt loss each month so I ordered a larger size and hope the seamstress can take it in as needed. I went thru my closet this AM and tried on some clothes I had in the back that hasn't fit in yrs...they fit. I took out all the big stuff and my closet looks kinda bare but since this is a work in progress, I'm not going to go on a shopping spree. I had purchased some jeans in December in various sizes (good sale) and will stick to wearing those. I used to wear about sz 24 now 16-18. I look at myself and cannot believe it's me.
I kept you too long here so just wanted to check in and say "hi" and I still love you all and will stay in touch...

It is so good to hear from you, Alice. You have been missed.
It sounds like things are going well. That is good news. I hope that they continue going well for you.
What does the dress for DS wedding look like? I love information on things like this. Make sure you share and give us the details of it. When in June is the wedding? My anniversary is the 11th.
Sorry for the eating episodes that you had. I know sometimes it is easy not to chew things as well as we should. I find myself doing that too. I suffer for it most of the time too. I am not losing my cookies to much but the pressure in my chest is horrendous. It can feel like I am having a heart attack. I can understand what yo are saying about the fluids. I always loved drinking water and now that I have to, because of the surgery and the kidneys too, I find it like pulling my fingernails out one by one to drink. I can't stand the taste of it no matter what I do with it. Oh the tricks of life.
Keep in touch and know that you are missed when you are away from the family.

Hi Brenda,
my dress is going to be a smokey orchid, floor length, v-neck with the shoulders just slightly off, elbow length sheer sleeves (to hide my bat wings), top is gathered to the side waist with some beading and slightly a-line chiffon skirt. I found it online and then shopped locally for it so I can get alterations. Not sure but I think I'm going with silver shoes. Son's wedding is June 20th. I bought the 4 ivory flower girl dresses online and will make the sashes to match the deep smokey lavender bridesmaid dresses.
My 4 granddaughters will be the flower girls and my grandson is the ring bearer. I bought the flower baskets,
shoes and fabric flower petals online as well...saved a ton of money buying all these online. I paid $59 for each dress online and the exact same dress in a bridal shop wanted $158. I am making the girls' hairclips..glueing pearls to the clips...all the girls have short hair so difficult to put up so the clips are the alternative. It's alot of work but is very fun.
Thanks for missing me Brenda...I've missed reading everyday but plan to try more often.

Welcome back, Alice....you certainly have been missed.
Good to hear you are continuing with the weight loss, and wearing new smaller sizes....that always makes us feel better.
I like to make several dishes on the weekend and then have them ready for the week....freeze in serving size containers and just pop into the microwave.
Best wishes on your journey and so good to hear from you.
Someone else has not been on here lately -- Marti from Wisconsin --- where are you Marti, we miss you too.

Done! Your Ticker:
Hi Pat,
I find that I really need to plan my days well, especially when I work. My schedule is different everyday and my breaks are 15min at the most so I have to plan well.
I don't like to come home after a busy day and cook so that's why cooking on weekends works better for me.
Thanks for your support Pat and I hope to visit more often.
Marti is probably hybernating as well with this very cold and snowy winter.

What a nice surprise to see your post when I logged on here this morning. You sound good. Congratulations on your progress...keep it up. How exciting for you helping planning your son's wedding. I'll bet you will look so nice. Don't be a stranger now and let us know how things are progressing. Your dress sounds lovely.

Hi ya Alice, I've wondered about you too. I had hoped all was well, just figured that you were busy and sounds like you are. Aren't you happy that you got the surgery? Now, you get to "doll all up" for the great event of your son's. It's good to have you back though. Stay in touch and we'll all be here when and if you need us.
Big hugs,
Pat A

Hello Alice and OFF Pals!
I enjoyed reading your post!!! Tomorrow I will be 2 wks out from Roux En Y. I see my surgeon again on Tuesday.
I can relate to your wedding outfit decisions!!! A former high school student, whom I had for freshman English and senior German, is getting married in mid-March. I am so excited!!! She is now a music teacher and about 25. I had not seen her in four years as health problems caused me to take an early disability retirement. She was home from college and visited my class the very last day before the doctor told me he was taking me off work.
Imagine my joy when she contacted me by e-mail to make sure she had my new mailing address because she is marrying the band director from the school she attended and where I taught. This is all just too exciting. Bob must be about 20 years older, but he has never been married before. You can believe I am anxious to make that 400+ mile trip to celebrate this love and union!!! I keep seeing this gal all decked out in peach at her senior prom.
Because I have had three knee surgeries including a TKR, I cannot wear heels, but I found a pair of the fanciest gold Bandolino flats and have ordered a dress a size smaller than I could fit into now. I am only concerned about whether the sleeves will work, but I have given myself 5 weeks to exchange it if necessary.
In addition to attending the wedding, we will be able to visit family in Southern California and meet a new great niece born last May.
These are some of the first fruits of my WLS! I feel up to travel again.
My husband and I are also planning the May trip to Hawaii we had originally scheduled for 2007 and postponed twice due to my having so much back and leg pain that I thought the cost of the trip would not be worth it if I could not be more mobile.
Thanks for the reminder about chewing well!!! I am still on liquids and hoping the surgeon will advance me to pureed foods next week. I am not sipping as slowly as I was in the hospital, but I have not felt discomfort.
Talk to you all again soon!!!
